COLLOQUIUM AND CONFERENCE IN MEMORY OF CHRISTINE BESSENRODT

In order to remember Christine Bessenrodt and her work in combinatorics, representation theory and related areas of mathematics, our faculty and the institute will organise a 2-day event (in-person only):

  • a colloquium on Friday afternoon 14:00–17:00, July 8th, 2022 for general audience
  • a conference on Saturday 9:00–14:00, July 9th, 2022 about combinatorial representation theory

Everybody is welcome to attend the colloquium and the conference.

Registration: For organisational reasons we would be grateful if people interested in attending would register per email by Lucia Morotti or Benjamin Sambale.

Organisers: Chris Bowman, Michael Cuntz, Ulrich Derenthal, Thorsten Holm, Lucia Morotti, Benjamin Sambale

The event is supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

  • Directions and hotels

    To get to Hannover University:

    • by train: get off at Hannover main station and either walk to the Welfenschloss (25 minutes according to google maps) or walk to the close-by tram station "Kröpcke". From there, either take line 4 or 5 heading to Garbsen or Stöcken respectively and get off at "Leibniz Universität" (just three stops from Kröpcke, costs 1,6 EUR (Kurzstreckenkarte)).
    • by plane: Hannover has a small airport at Langenhagen. From there, take a local train (S5) to the main train station. Hannover also has direct (fast) train connections to the international airports of Hamburg and Frankfurt. See Bahn homepage for directions.
    • by car: see link "How to reach Leibniz University"

    Recommended hotel:

We have arranged a room contingent for you at the Cityhotel am Thielenplatz. With the keyword "Bessenrodt Kolloquium", you may book a single room at university conditions. The price is then 75,50 € plus 12,50 for breakfast per night. You will get the special price only by writing an e-mail to the Cityhotel am Thielenplatz and enter the keyword. The booking engine of the hotel does not know anything about the special conditions. E-mail: hannover@smartcityhotels.com.
The contingent will be available until 24.06.2021 or as long as the contingent is not fully booked
The Cityhotel am Thielenplatz is located about 3 min. walking distance from the main railway station and also offers parking spaces for participants arriving by car.
